On November 3, Wayne Township voters will decide whether to continue investing in the people, programs and services our schools rely on.
Changes to Indiana’s property tax system and how funding is distributed have left our local public schools facing a funding gap of $20,000,000 (yep that many zeros that is a million).
This referendum provides critical operational and financial stability for Wayne Township schools — helping retain great teachers, keep students safe and maintain the everyday services that keep our schools running.
Strong public schools benefit all of us. Our students deserve an excellent education, and our entire community benefits from educated young people, strong neighborhoods and a community where families and businesses want to invest.

Recruiting and Retaining Classroom Teachers
Great teachers make a big difference for students. Schools need enough funding to offer competitive pay and keep experienced teachers from leaving for other districts. Stable staffing also means students spend more time learning and less time adjusting to teacher changes.
Funding Student Safety and School Security
Students learn best when they feel safe at school. Funding helps provide trained safety staff, secure buildings, and systems that help schools respond quickly when there is a problem. These resources help teachers focus on teaching and students focus on learning.
Maintaining Daily Educational Operations
It takes a lot to keep schools running every day. Funding helps pay for transportation including drivers, buses, fuel, technology, utilities, and the staff who support students like our custodians. These are the everyday costs that make it possible to open the doors and provide students with a quality education.
Wayne Township teachers did not receive a raise for the 2025–26 school year.
